A Little Embroidery

Over the past couple weeks, I decided to put out a Brazilian Dimensional Embroidery design that I came up with a few years ago. I had a few stitched, but didn't have written directions, so I worked up another one and made notes! This design is called "Entwined Hearts" and is about 5" in diameter.

There are always a few things that I'd like to do differently... And I can on the next one!

While I was stitching on the Heart, I had a few appointments and so threw my embroidery stuff into a tote and lugged it along, thinking, "Why don't I have a nice little kit that will carry just enough for an hour or two of stitching?" So when the Heart was finished, I made a little Embroidery Kit. Just big enough for a 6" hoop and the project, it has a set of pockets for floss cards, a needle gripper, a thimble, and the needle threader, a little thread catcher and a needle book. Oh, and don't forget the scissors!

A purse zipper lets the kit open a little or a lot! I sewed the zipper in by hand - it worked really well, but took a lot of time as it was basted, sewn in, then the edges bound - three times around! I've figured out how to put it on using the sewing machine and will try it if I make another kit.

There's room for everything I need to take along.

Next to the scissors, there's room for another pocket or a bead book (that would be like a needle book, but beads would be strung on pins and stuck into the felt).

Now that the kit is done, I can take a special project that's been in the works for a while with me and get it done!

Tonight I wanted to try something different on another Entwined Hearts piece, so got a black one and started stitching while I watched TV. It's going to be fun - I'm thinking about covering the center with a Hummingbird, or maybe two or three! Won't that be fun!

Well, Georgie Girl says it's time for bed, so we'll sign off for now!
